Description
This is one of the products that inspired me to start this site. It seems that most kettles you see on Amazon these days are pieces of junk that degrade after only a year or two. This has been the trend for most things made in the last 20 years as American and European companies have all but shut down domestic manufacturing and moved everything to low bidders overseas.
The design of the Animal Crossing kettle seems to be inspired by this Akao Aluminum Kettle. Akao Alumi is a company that’s been around since 1947 producing aluminum housewares, and they still do all their production out of Japan to this day. This particular kettle is called their “Traditional Japanese Kettle”. Its design is inspired by traditional cast iron tea kettles dating back many centuries in Imperial Japan. But this product itself has become iconic; it’s a staple in thousands of Japanese households.

You won't find many retailers in the United States who carry this directly, but Amazon lets you order the 4.5 liter (1.1 gallons), 6.6 liter (1.7 gallons), and 10 liter (2.6 gallons) models. Just make sure that the seller fulfilling it to you is Amazon Japan or a highly rated store that ships from Japan. eBay is another excellent place to find these. Some of the better sellers include Japan Expo Store and JPAnime, if you can find them in stock.
