Welcome to Animal Crossing IRL!
It’s been on my mind for a while to start this site. I’ve been playing Animal Crossing since City Folk on the Wii, graduated to New Life on the 3DS, and finally started my Island home with New Horizons.
A funny thing happened. As I grew older, got a home, and started furnishing things for it, I found that a lot of my real-life purchases reflected the things I did in the game.
With Nintendo’s launch of the 3.0 update, I figured it was time for me to finally launch it. I have no idea where it’s going, but hopefully some of you find it useful, or at least have a little fun with it.
One of the many things I love about the game is the attention to detail when it comes to in-game items like furniture, housewares, plants, food and artwork.
The game developers could have just slapped anything together, but they took the time to choose items that were interesting, aspirational, and beautiful—as much as I love life in America, the Japanese culture definitely outclasses the rest of the world in those things.
Many of the items have “back stories” that most people wouldn’t even think about. I hope to share those with you here as well.
My goal for this site is to find REAL LIFE equivalents to the items you see in Animal Crossing, and in the process I’ll give a little of that backstory, as well as links to purchase each item in real life. Note that I may get a few cents if you click through and purchase something; my goal is to use that money to pay for hosting this site, as well as continuing to keep it up-to-date.
While I’ll probably use AI to help with some of my research, rest assured that every word on this site is written by me, and every item is hand-picked by me because I found it interesting or useful.
If there’s a particular item you’d like me to look up, please fill out the form on the home page—you don’t have to leave me an e-mail address, just your name and what you’re looking for. I’ll do my best to research it and add it to the site.
As time permits, I’ll make some posts on things I find particularly interesting in the world of Animal Crossing (starting with an upcoming post about the 3.0 update).
Happy browsing!
