Upright Speaker

Music & Sound

The Upright Speaker reflects the design of modern smart speakers, which became common in homes during the 2010s as voice assistants and wireless audio systems grew more popular. These devices combine music playback, internet connectivity, and voice control in a compact unit designed to sit on a table or shelf. <Many smart speakers use simple cylindrical shapes, fabric-covered sides, and subtle LED lighting to blend into home décor while still signaling when the device is active or listening.

The Upright Speaker itself was introduced in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 2.0 update, reflecting Nintendo’s effort to keep the game’s furniture and everyday accessories feeling current and recognizable alongside real-world technology, even as the series maintains its timeless, cozy aesthetic.

The upright speaker can be purchased from Nook's Cranny for 1,500 Bells or the Paradise Planning office for 1,400 Poki.

The mesh design resembles the Apple Homepod, while the lighted ring is reminiscent of early Amazon Echo devices such as First, Second, and Third generation Echos (pictured here) and Echo Studio.

Amazon has since changed the design of their speakers to a "ball" design, so Apple's is the one that closest resembles the Animal Crossing in-game design now.
