Owl Clock

Living Room & Den Furnishings

The Owl Clock is another one of those Animal Crossing items that don’t make a lot of sense outside of Japanese culture. In Japan, the word for owl is “fukurou” which sounds like the Japanese word for luck, “fuku” (a word which you probably don’t want to say out of context in the US).

That’s why you’ll find owl souvenirs all over Japan. This particular clock has an interesting history in Japan, which I’ll detail below.

Purchasable Furniture - Miscellaneous
Nook's Cranny sells the Owl Clock for 3,400 Bells, while Wardell's catalog sells it for 3,100 Poki. As with other timepieces in the game, it tells you the accurate time.
The clock picture in Animal Crossing was inspired by a clock made by the Japanese company Tezuka (under the "Poppo" brand) from 1946 to the 1970s.

Tezuka was formed in post-war Japan (its first products were stamped "Made in Occupied Japan") to help reconstruct Japan after the war. They produced cuckoo clocks in the Black Forest style, and production of these owl clocks with moving eyes followed naturally (their dog clocks also became popular). If you're lucky, you can still find previously owned Poppo clocks on eBay.

If you can't get your hands on a vintage Poppo clock from Japan, contemporary versions like this one from Lily's Home is a nice backup.
