Gold Roses

Plants

While gold roses don’t occur naturally, the idea of a golden rose has existed for centuries as a symbol of rarity, achievement, and lasting beauty. One of the most famous examples is the Golden Rose, a ceremonial ornament traditionally given by the Pope as a special honor during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. In modern times, the concept appears in gold-dipped real roses, metallic decorative roses, and gold-colored preserved flowers, often given as keepsake gifts meant to last longer than fresh blooms. Like their Animal Crossing counterpart, gold roses in the real world tend to represent something rare, carefully cultivated, and a little magical.

To grow a golden rose in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you need two things: black roses and a golden watering can.

Here’s the exact step-by-step process:

1) Breed black roses - Plant red roses next to each other (diagonal or side-by-side). Water them daily until they produce black roses.

2) Get the golden watering can - You unlock the DIY recipe after earning a 5-star island rating from Isabelle. Craft it using 1 watering can and 1 gold nugget.

3) Water black roses with the golden watering can.

The next time they reproduce, there’s a chance a golden rose will grow.
gold dipped rosesThe Forever Rose was one of the originators of the concept of dipping real roses into real gold to preserve them (Yes, it's hard to believe, but these start out as real roses that are overlaid with gold; the flower inside gets destroyed, but its shape is permanently preserved.

Amazon does sell cheaper knock-off versions, but this is one where you'll probably want to stick with the established brand if you want to make a lasting impression.
