Description
The Garden Gnome in Animal Crossing is based on the traditional garden gnome statue, a decorative figure that originated in Germany in the 19th century. These small figurines were inspired by European folklore about earth-dwelling spirits who protected gardens and hidden treasures. Garden gnomes became popular across Europe and later in North America as playful outdoor decorations, often depicted with pointed red hats, long beards, and work clothes. This Garden Gnome from Alpine Corporation is one of the more popular ones on Amazon, and happens to match the one in Animal Crossing, complete with the red hat, white beard, and blue top with a black belt and buckle. At about a foot tall, it's a nice kitschy addition to your patio or garden.
