One thing I love about Animal Crossing is how it introduces a lot of classic concepts from the 20th century to today’s audiences. Diners were hugely popular from the 1920s to the 1960s in the US, and kitschy red furniture was part of the charm. The Shott Manufacturing Company was the most famous manufacturer of the classic red vinyl diner chairs with white stripes and chrome frames, serving thousands of American diners, lunch counters, and soda fountains.
Alas, Shott is no longer around; like many great old American brands it ended up being absorbed and then disappearing as globalization set in. On a positive note, there are high quality replicas available.
You can get a pretty good replica of the diner chair, made by Richardson, at Walmart or eBay. It uses classic chrome metal for its steel frame and just like in real diners is made of durable vinyl which is easy to clean. It fits just as well into a home as it does into an actual diner, and it's made in the USA.
