Coffee Plant

Plants

While coffee trees can only survive in hot climates (think the American South, Southwest, or southern California), many people don’t realize that they make fantastic houseplants. For years, I owned a coffee plant that became a flowering tree. The flowers are beautiful, delicate white blooms which turn into coffee beans, and they’re self-pollinating so you don’t even need to worry about that. You’re most likely not going to get enough beans to pick and roast indoors for a single cup of coffee, but they make a lovely houseplant and are surprisingly easy to take care of; just put them by a sunny window, make sure it always has enough water, and plant it in a very large pot.

You get the coffee plant from Brewster after sitting down at The Roost on 20 different days. Once that happens you can order it from your catalog for 1,600 Bells. Unfortunately, you can't harvest coffee beans from it, it's just for decoration in your home.
coffee plantAmazon has this Arabica Coffee Plant for sale. It comes in a 6" pot, but you'll want to transplant it into a large pot to give it plenty of room to grow.

In real life (unlike in Animal Crossing), coffee plants are slow growers and can take 2–4 years to produce beans, but they make excellent decorative houseplants long before that. Arabica plants have glossy, deep-green leaves that look right at home in a cozy café setup.

This plant prefers bright, indirect light, consistent watering, and a bit more humidity than your average houseplant. If you’ve had luck keeping fiddle-leaf figs, citrus trees, or indoor herbs alive, this is a manageable step up—not a “hard mode” plant. Note that coffee leaves are not safe for pets, so if you have a dog or cat, keep them out of their reach.
