Lego Items in New Horizons 3.0 Update
One of the things I was most excited about has been Nintendo’s recent collaboration with LEGO. I’ll discuss the fifteen (and counting) LEGO sets in the next post, but today I wanted to talk about the in-game LEGO elements that came with the Version 3.0 update.
As with previous collaborations such as with Sanrio, there aren’t a ton of new elements, but you can do a lot with the ones they provided. I’d planned on creating a “Lego room” for the new hotel, but it turns out my daughter went and designed all the room already, less than a week after getting the update. Even worse, she did an awesome job, so there’ll be no “Dad’s going to fix this up for you and make it into a LEGO room!”
Thankfully, we do have the new feature of Slumber Islands, so I’ll be living the dream (quite literally) over there.
Here’s a list of the new LEGO stuff we have to work with.
Furniture
LEGO arcade game
Unfortunately, this isn’t a playable game (something I miss from the New Leaf days), but the display is animated and plays retro arcade gaming music. When you interact with it, makes a satisfying shooting sound.
Want to make it yourself? I reverse engineered it, and you can find the instructions here!

Lego bed
Like any other bed in Animal Crossing, you can lie down in this bed to either visit a Dream Address (visiting someone else’s island with limited interaction) or new with v3.0 access your own Slumber Island (visiting your own interactive, multiplayer, and customizable dream island).
Instructions on how to make your own LEGO bed are here.

LEGO DIY workbench
This is the sixth workbench (joining the Cute DIY table, the DIY workbench, the Ironwood DIY workbench, the Mini DIY workbench, and the Simple DIY workbench). I still call it a “crafting table”, an old habit from Minecrafting.
Instructions for making your own LEGO DIY workbench are available here!

LEGO fireplace
I was hoping the fireplace would light up in the game when you interacted with it, similar to how it does with certain sets with “lighted” bricks that illuminate clear bricks. But alas, it doesn’t.
Full instructions for the LEGO fireplace are available here.

LEGO partition
The good thing about this one is that practically everyone will have the bricks in their house to make it.
For this one, I’ll let you figure it out 😉

LEGO plum blossom
This one is an homage to the LEGO Botanicals Plum Blossom set (10369). If only there was a Web site that could show you where to get actual IRL equivalents of the housewares you see in Animal Crossing. Oh wait.

LEGO sofa
Seeing this one made me think back fondly to Emmet’s double-decker couch (if you want to feel old, that happened 12 years ago). Like any other sofa, you can plop down and chill in this one.

LEGO table
Like any other table in Animal Crossing, you can place items on this. It’s reminiscent of play tables like this one by Humble Crew or this one by KidKraft where the surface is made of LEGO-style plates.

Clothing:
I was chomping at the bit to write a few posts about the IRL versions of these shirts, as I was SURE I’ve seen all of them before at the LEGO Store and Legoland. But strangely, I don’t see the IRL version of these anywhere, except for
LEGO brick tee
I wish LEGO sold these, but I can’t find them on any of their official channels. If you really want one, you can always check out similar fan-made ones at TeePublic or Redbubble.

LEGO logo tee
Seeing these mostly sold out on international LEGO sites. I’m sure LEGO will be making them again, but again, if you really need one now there are always fan-created ones.

Wallpapers and Flooring:
When you tile the wallpaper and flooring, it really transforms your Animal Crossing house into a Legoland-like experience. I personally prefer the classic colorful look.

It’s been fun playing with version 3.0 update, and these LEGO tie-ins were the icing on the cake. Hope you have fun with them too!
