Tape Deck

Music & Sound

Those who have played Animal Crossing since the days of Wild World and City Folk will fondly remember how Tom Nook would give you a tent, a lamp, and a tape deck to start the game. Then, as now, you can use the radio to play K.K. Slider’s music. I remember sitting in my tent on many a dark starry night, slaving away for Nook as I saved up to buy a house.

Since version 2.0 of the game, a version of the tape deck has been outside Resident Services that you can use to start Group stretching.

Purchasable Furniture - Miscellaneous You can buy the tape deck at Nook's Cranny for 2,900 bells, or from Wardell's catalog for 2,600 Poki.
tape deckI was pretty excited to find this mini boombox that is the spitting image of the in-game radio. It's the iconic Victrola brand, but of course the brand is now little more than a name that licensed to put on generic mass-produced electronics. Still, there's something comfortingly familiar about this design, and in addition to standard AM/FM radio and cassette tape playing, it supports connection through USB and Bluetooth.

Here's something else that's a lot of fun. In Japan, there's a kind of lottery called Ichiban Kuji that you'll find at convenience stores, hobby shops, arcades, and bookstores where you buy a ticket and get a guaranteed prize that's limited edition and would never have been sold at a retail location. Evidently they recently offered these Alarm Clock Radios that are replica of the tape deck in the game, complete with either Isabelle or Timmy and Tommy doing morning stretches.

Some enterprising sellers likely bought out every ticket in order to win these prizes, so they can flip them. The Timmy and Tommy clock were considered a "Last One Prize", meaning it was the rarest in the set, If you're an Animal Crossing fan and want a true collector's item (as well as a handy alarm clock), consider grabbing one before they're gone.
